Last night we had dinner in a little place off a steep narrow cobble stoned street. The menu de jour for 11 euro was very nice. We had a chicken broth with vermicelli in it and croutons on the side which where in a buttery garlicy flavoured oil. Very nice it reminded me of a broth Fuzz' Mum used to make and I will be making that when I get home. The broth was followed by a small chicken maryland which had a salsa all over it with baked potates. This was finished off with an almond custard type torte. All very nice. Since we have been here we have had a few baguets with jambon and fromage ? I had forgoten how nice they are. We are yet to try the 'Pilgrims menu' but we will before too long.
We are staying at the Hotel Remparts. A quaint little hotel/restaurant (doesn't serve dinner). It is comfortable and clean and quite old. We are right next to the shallow river that rushes it's way through the town. I thought it was raining when I woke up but it was the river moving quickly over it's rocky bed. What a lovely sound I could lie here for ages listening to it.
After breakfast we will start out and head up and then up some more for most of the day. Breakfast isn't served until 7.15 so we have a while to wait yet and I am hungry. These little hotels don't have the tea and coffee facilities in your room so it is only water for me until then. I don't think that will do me any harm though.

Sounds like an absolutely lovely place and you have done very well with the description of dinner, can almost taste it now.
ReplyDeleteOh No .. no tea in the room, must make it difficult to start the day.
