Zubbiri to Pamplona

21 km today nice and warm and mostly shaded.  The ground was still a bit rocky but not as bad as yeasterday.  My feet are really sore though.  We walked along a path lined with wild berries, blueberry, rasberry, gooseberry, boysenberry even redcurrants.  This path went on for ages and it was lovely.  The way was the flattest we have encountered so far still some climbs but nothing too bad.  Through some very quaint villages and following the river Arga
Last night was our first night in  a Refugio sharing a room with 8 other people.  It wasn't so bad.  So much snoring though.  It iwas almost funny.  Between the snoring and the church bell chiming  1 chime for each hour and one chime on thd half hour we had a very broken sleep.  The people who ran it were very helpful and we will stay in one again.
The pilgrims menu last night was garlic soup followed by pork in a very salty gravy and chips followed by tinned fruit salad.  The two compulsory bottles of wine to share with eight people again.  We can't seem to get any vegetables other than potatoes.  We have't had anything green or red in the way of veg since Saturday.  I would love a big chunk of broccoli
We are now in Pamplona.  A fantastic city.  Seiesta is funny.  Everyone scampers away and the place almost becomes deserted and as I sit in our room in a pension tonight I can hear the town starting to gradually come to life as everyone comes back to start on the pinchios.  Fuzz is very excited about pinchios because where we are staying has a bar with happy hour. They have a red wine and pinchos for 2 euro.  He is in heaven.  I am having veg tonight somewhere if I have to raid someones garden out of town.

  1. Wow, sounds like you are really living the pilgrim way now. That berry patch sounds like a lovely find. Do worry I'm sure that by the time you reach the end you will be use to the snoring. A
